A common concern that teachers have with arts integration is time. How do we fit it all in? Well, art's integration is a way to address the problem of time. Integration means addressing multiple objectives through CORE arts experiences. It's about much more than addressing two objectives at once.
Learning isn't an automatic result of time spent on a task. Rather, learning is about insight and can sometimes come quite suddenly. Yes, time on task can increase the possibility of moments of insight, but so can the type and intensity of a learning experience. CORE experiences, because they are engaging and complex, can really spark the imagination and energize cognition. |
